Permanent artwork pergola with seating
Leads Road, Hull, Yorkshire, UK
Green/Shade creates a focal point and social space for the garden of an innovative public housing scheme in Hull. The work has a galvanised steel structure referencing Hull’s industrial heritage with edge-lit Plexiglas detail and literary engraving. The work is designed so that climbing plants grow overhead creating shade for residents. Green/Shade draws inspiration from ‘The Garden’, a metaphysical poem written by Hull-born Andrew Marvell (1621-1678).
